LIMESTONE RESULTS FROM DAY 1 OF NCAA DIVISION II WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS |
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa— Limestone wrestler Dan Scanlan (Leesburg, Va./184 lbs.) is still in the hunt for a national title while Trey Moss (Red Bank, S.C./285 lbs.) will battle for a third-place finish after the opening rounds of the NCAA Division II National Championship. The tournament, hosted by Upper Iowa University, is being held at the U.S. Cellular Center. Scanlan started the day with a 13-0 major decision over Lucas Haag of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in the 184-pound weight class. He also defeated Western State’s Lars Lueders 3-1 to advance to the championship semifinals on Saturday morning. Scanlan will face Heath Jolley of Central Oklahoma in the semifinal round. Moss beat Steve Franklin of San Francisco State University, 3-1, in his first match to advance to the evening session of the 285-pound weight class. He was defeated by Minnesota State’s Brady Wilson with a fall (0:26). Moss will face Lynn Panko of the University of Indianapolis tomorrow in the consolation round. Competition at the 2008 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship continues on Saturday at 10 a.m. |
