LADY SAINTS LACROSSE RECEIVES BID TO NCAA DIVISION II TOURNAMENT |
The No. 2-ranked Limestone College women’s lacrosse team will face No. 4 West Chester in the semifinals of the upcoming NCAA Division II tournament as announced on Sunday night. The Lady Saints (17-1 overall) are headed to Houston, Texas, for their third appearance in the tournament semifinals on May 15. C.W. Post will play Adelphi in the other semifinal matchup on May 15. The winners of the semifinal contests will advance to the championship game on May 17 at 1 p.m. Limestone upset West Chester, 9-8, earlier this season on March 9 in Gaffney, S.C. The Lady Saints also earned NCAA tournament bids in 2004 and 2006. In 2004, Limestone suffered a 23-12 loss to West Chester in semifinals in Orlando, Fla. The Golden Rams also knocked the Lady Saints out of the 2006 tournament as West Chester edged LC 10-8 in Chicago, Ill. The 2008 women’s lacrosse national championship will take place at the NCAA Division II Springs Sports Festival in Houston, Texas. At this year’s festivals, champions will also be crowned in men’s and women’s golf, softball, and men’s and women’s tennis.
