NO. 2 LIMESTONE BEATS ST. ANDREWS

GAFFNEY, S.C.— The No. 2 Limestone College women’s lacrosse team defeated St. Andrews 22-6 on Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field in Conference Carolinas action. The Lady Saints improve to 13-1 overall (10-0 conference) as the Knights fall to 6-11 (2-8 league).

Eleven Lady Saints scored in the victory, as Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.) and Katie Ilott (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) recorded four goals each. Summer Ferraro (East Setauket, N.Y.) added three, while Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.), Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), and Casey Wilcox (Liverpool, N.Y.) scored two goals apiece. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.) tallied two assists.

Grogg also recorded four draw controls and four caused turnovers. Ferraro led the Lady Saints with three ground balls. Goalkeepers Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) and Michaela Reynolds (Columbia, Md.) each had one save.

Kerrie Brown (Irondequoit, N.Y.) led St. Andrews with two goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Eryn McCaffrey (Cicero, N.Y.) posted 14 saves. Kim McDaniel (Joppa, Md.), Alex Muraida (Austin, Texas), and Brown had three draw controls each.

The Knights will compete in the first round of the Conference Carolinas tournament on Thursday, April 17 against Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C.

Limestone, having clinched the #1 seed in the upcoming Conference Carolinas tournament, will receive a bye in the first round of the tournament.

The Lady Saints will play in the tournament semifinals on Saturday, April 19 at 11:30 a.m. at Saints Field.
The championship game of the 2008 Conference Carolinas tournament is slated for 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 20.
