NO. 3 LIMESTONE GETS 15-8 WIN OVER PFEIFFER

GAFFNEY, S.C.—The No. 3 Lady Saints lacrosse team picked up a 15-8 win over Pfeiffer University on Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone climbs to 4-1 overall (4-0 conference) with today’s Conference Carolinas victory. The Falcons drop to 3-3 overall (1-3 conference).

Limestone had a 9-3 lead at halftime, and then outscored Pfeiffer 6-5 in the second period for the win.

Katie Ilott (Whitbey, Ontario, Canada), Summer Ferraro (East Setauket, N.Y.), and Shea Farrell (Blue Point, N.Y.) each scored three times for the Lady Saints. Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) scored twice as Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.), Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.), Renee Albro (Purcellville, Va.), and Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) also recorded goals. Wise had a team-high two assists. Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.), Howard, Ilott, and Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.) also tallied assists.

Ilott and Ferraro each had two draw controls. Lady Saint goalkeeper Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) had 11 saves and six ground balls.

Heidi Karaszkiewicz (Glen Burnie, Md.) and Jamie Livingston (Winter Park, Fla.) had two goals apiece. Elie Fenton (Odenton, Md.), Krissy Bentolila (Potomac, Md.), Sarah Hebberd (Golden, Colo.), and Alex Cook (Commack, N.Y.) had one goal each. Ashley Hill (Ellicott City, Md.) dished out two assists.

Falcon goalkeeper Christine Shaefer (Glen Burnie, Md.) had five saves and four ground balls. Fenton had six draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Limestone had a 26-22 advantage on shots, but Pfeiffer edged the hosts 14-11 on draw controls.  Both teams had 14 ground balls. Pfeiffer was 9-for-14 in clears and 4-for-9 on free-position shots. The Lady Saints were 18-for-20 in clears and 2-for-7 in free-position attempts.

Limestone hosts No. 2 West Chester on Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Saints field. The Falcons head to Hilton Head, S.C., to play Bloomsburg on March 11 at 11 a.m.
