OLLIVIER DOMINATES AT CONFERENCE CAROLINAS INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT; SAINTS HAVE STRONG SHOWING IN FALL DEBUT

The Limestone College tennis teams started the fall season last weekend at the Conference Carolinas Individual Tennis Tournament in Sumter. Thomas Ollivier dominated the tournament, winning the “A” singles flight. Ollivier and doubles partner Philippe Hogan won the “A” doubles flight. Highlights from the women’s competition include Eve Aubry and Jen Snaider winning the “B” doubles flight, and Jimena Munoz Quiroga winning the “A” singles consolation.

Aubry and Snaider squared off in the “A” singles consolation final, with Aubry getting the victory. Christian Warnholtz advanced to the finals of the “B” singles flight, while Paulo Avila and Henrik Nordquist won the “B” doubles consolation.

Ollivier defeated Nandor Silymosio of Lees-McRae in the final singles match, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Ollivier and Hogan defeated Johan DeWitt and Philip Lawson from Pfeiffer in the doubles finals, 8-3.

“Thomas played great all weekend,” pointed out Limestone Head Coach Keith Turner. “He was down in the third set in both the semifinals and finals of his singles matches, but he gutted it out each time to come out with the victory. This is a huge accomplishment for Thomas and he’ll now be seeded in the ITA Regional this coming weekend back in Sumter.

“Thomas and Philippe also played outstandingly in the doubles competition,” continued Turner. “They will also be seeded in doubles this weekend as well.”

Limestone will compete at the ITA Regional in Sumter, S.C., on September 22-24.
