SWIM TEAMS ASSIST HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

The Limestone men’s and women’s swim teams helped Habitat for Humanity on
April 26. The team split up into five groups and worked on different sections of three houses. Their task was to install vinyl siding on the exterior walls of each home. This helped Habitat for Humanity get closer to their June construction deadline for the three houses. This was a good way for the team to get together and help the Gaffney community.

“The teams did a great job of working together on the Habitat for Humanity homes,” stated Saints Head Coach Allen Gilchrest. “We spend a lot of time in the pool training and working hard in the classroom. This was a great way for the team to learn how to work together, problem solve, and give back to the Gaffney community. Way to go team!”

“I had a remarkable experience helping out at Habitat for Humanity last weekend,” said sophomore swimmer Molly Reichwald (Atlanta, Ga.). “We started off the morning with a great prayer. It was a great opportunity for team bonding and it also gave us a chance to help out the community. Knowing we were going to help make a difference in someone’s life, by participating in building these houses, made the experience more significant. I think we learned something useful we can use later in life”.

Freshman swimmer Drew Boyd (Louisville, Ky.) added, “Habitat for Humanity was another great team bonding experience. It was great to do something that helps others live a happier life. It was great to be apart of something that made me feel like I was doing the world some good. I loved being there with my team and I loved the Christian atmosphere that was there. We all can help one another and we all can love one another and this was a great way to show that. Habitat for Humanity is a great organization and I truly had a great time helping build the houses. I hope that the families that will occupy the houses in the future truly love them. God Bless”.

Through the work of Habitat for Humanity, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. Churches, community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem -- decent housing for all.

Today, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 250,000 houses, sheltering more than 1,000,000 people in more than 3,000 communities worldwide.
