LIMESTONE MEN’S LACROSSE HEADED FOR 9TH NCAA DIVISION II TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE

The No. 5-ranked Limestone College men’s lacrosse team will make its ninth straight NCAA Division II tournament appearance as the Saints travel to Old Westbury, N.Y., to face No. 2 New York Tech on May 17.

The semifinal sites and team matchups for the 2008 national tournament are as follows:
North Region: Le Moyne (14-1) hosts Bryant (14-3)
Central/South Regions: NYIT (11-1) hosts Limestone (14-1)

Limestone is in the hunt for its third national title. The Saints claimed the NCAA Division II National Championship is 2000 and 2002.

This year’s semifinal winners will advance to the final, which will be contested at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, May 25, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., and televised live by CBS College Sports Network.  That game will be preceded by the Division III championship at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, also at Gillette Stadium and televised on CBS College Sports Network.

The championship provides for a four-team tournament.  One team from each of the three regions (North, Central and South) and one at-large team from any region were selected to participate in the men's lacrosse championship.  Teams selected from the same region were paired for semifinal competition.  Semifinal competition is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, or Sunday, May 18.
