NO. 3 LIMESTONE BEATS BELMONT ABBEY 10-6

BELMONT, N.C.— The No. 3-ranked Limestone College men’s lacrosse team defeated Belmont Abbey 10-6 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. Limestone improves to 6-0 on the season with the win, and the Crusaders drop to 0-4.

The Saints’ Brendan Storrier (LaFayette, N.Y.) and A.J. Vaughn (Skaneateles, N.Y.) each scored two goals. Jake Rogalia (Liverpool, N.Y.), Justin Haworth (Deer Park, N.C.) Michael Poerstel (Annapolis, Md.), Thomas Langan (Potomac, Md.), Eric Turner (Dublin, Ohio) and Sam Buppert (Marriottsville, Md.) also scored. Vaughn, Haworth, Poerstel, and Rogalia recorded assists.

Limestone led 3-2 at halftime and outscored the Abbey 7-4 in the second period for the victory. The Saints had a 39-24 advantage on shots, a 31-21 advantage on ground balls, and were 8-19 in faceoffs.

C.J. Ciaravino (Linden, Mich.) had six ground balls and was 9-16 in faceoff attempts. Spencer Wims (Waltham, Mass.) had two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Goalkeeper James Tuohy (Levittown, N.Y.) posted 13 saves and had five ground balls.

Limestone hosts Wingate on Saturday, March 29 at 2 p.m. in Gaffney, S.C.
