MEN’S BASKETBALL INKS BARRETT |
Limestone College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Brandon Scott has announced that Michael Barrett will join the Saints for the 2008-09 season. Barrett, a 5-foot 10-inch guard, hails from Virginia Beach, Va. “Michael is an extremely athletic guard who can really score the basketball,” said Scott. “He shoots it, drives it, and has a nice mid-range game. He is a scorer. Michael is a great kid with a terrific work ethic and he is only going to get better. I am expecting him to have a great career at Limestone. We are very excited about what Michael brings to our basketball program.” Barrett was a two-year starter at Fishburne Military School, where he was also a two-year All-Conference honoree and team MVP. He was named to the All-Star team on two occasions. He is the third all-time leading scorer in school history with 1044 career points. In his two seasons at Fishburne, he led his team to a 33-16 record and a state playoff tournament appearance. As a senior, Barrett led the conference in scoring, averaging 24 points per game. He was also named Second-Team All-State. Earlier this season, Barrett broke the school scoring record with 45 points against Westover Christian, and followed up with a 44-point performance against Eastern Mennonite. Barrett also competed in football, where he earned Offensive Player of Year honors, and in baseball. He is the son of Jeff and Angela Barrett. |
