LIMESTONE HOLDS SPRING ATHLETIC AWARDS BANQUET |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—Limestone College held its final athletics awards banquets on Monday night at Stephenson Dining Hall. The achievements of the spring athletics teams were recognized at the event. Conference Carolinas All-Academic awards were also presented. The Limestone head coaches recognized their seniors and team MVPs. Curt Lamb, the Saints’ Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, handed out awards to Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year for each sport, and presented Phillip Soden (Inman, S.C.) and Keisha Thompson (Union, S.C.) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s All-American award. Women’s tennis player Alexandra Gade (Copenhagen, Germany) was named Scholar Athlete of the Year. Chelsea Anthony (Pickens, S.C.) of the volleyball and softball teams received the Les Gregory Citizenship Award which is given to the student-athlete who possesses honor, integrity, courage and a strong work ethic. Lynn Milam (Summerville, S.C.) was presented with the Caggiano Memorial Scholarship. Wrestler Joby Schreckhise (Grottoes, Va.) earned the Tom Pettit Sportsmanship Award. Leighann Turner, a member of the Saints Club Board of Directors, was presented with the Super Saint of the Year award for her dedication to Limestone’s athletic booster club. The Limestone athletics department also presented a special award to Dr. Scott Berry, Limestone College’s Director of Network Services and Professor of Physics, for his dedication and contribution in the school’s athletics program.
