SAINTS SNAP LOSING STREAK WITH 11-9 WIN OVER LENOIR-RHYNE |
Kyle Matheney (Spindale, N.C.) got the win after coming into the contest in the third inning. Brock White (Gaffney, S.C.) was credited with the save as he only gave up two hits and one run in the final inning. He pitched four innings with three strikeouts and only allowed six hits and two runs. Starter Brian Baugher (Frederick, Md.) pitched the opening 2 2/3 innings with a strikeout. Jordan Liette (Versailles, Ohio) saw action in 1 1/3 innings and gave up two hits. Greg Conrad (Charlotte, N.C.) took the loss for Lenoir-Rhyne after he gave up five earned runs in the first 1 2/3 innings. T.J. Worrell (Charlotte, N.C.) and Josh Keller (Claremont, N.C.) also pitched. Worrell had four strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of work. Keller posted one strikeout in the final inning. The Bears’ Stephen Andrews (Winston-Salem, N.C.) led his team as he was 4-5 at bat with four RBIs and a run scored, including a home run. Anthony Sully (Charlotte, N.C.) batted 3-5 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs. Kyle Brewer (Gruetli-Laager, Tenn.) and Drew Lydon (White Plains, Md.) both hit 3-3. Lydon also had four RBIs, two runs scored, and two doubles. Josh Izokovic (Shelby, N.C.) hit 3-5 with 3 runs scored. Zach Watkins (Albany, Ga.) had two RBIs after batting 1-5. David Christy (Greenville, S.C.) recorded a double, while Izokovic and Phillip Soden (Inman, S.C.) hit triples. The Saints host Erskine tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. in a non-conference contest at Bob Prevatte Field. Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Carson-Newman this weekend for three-game series. Saturday’s doubleheader starts at noon, and Sunday’s single game begins at 1 p.m.
