GAFFNEY, S.C.—Tusculum College defeated Limestone College on a cold Sunday afternoon, 19-12, at Bob Prevatte Field. The Pioneers climb to 25-11 as the Saints stand at 20-21. Tusculum started the game by scoring 10 runs in the opening inning. Trailing 18-3 heading into the seventh, Limestone scored nine runs in the final three innings in an attempt to rally. The Pioneers scored a run in the ninth for the 19-12 win. The Pioneers’ Eric Donahue (New Market, N.H.) pitched the first six innings for the win. He gave up seven hits and recorded four strikeouts. Tyler Collins (Snellville, Ga.) and Mat Galens (Louisville, Ky.) pitched in relief. Clayton Knight (Moncks Corner, S.C.) took the loss. Other pitchers seeing action for the Saints included Josh Joseph (Axton, Va.), Evan Denton (Gastonia, N.C.), Jordan Liette (Versailles, Ohio), Kyle Elliott (Shelby, N.C.), Michael McAbee (Boiling Springs, S.C.), Brock White (Gaffney, S.C.), and Brian Baugher (Frederick, Md.) Limestone’s Zach Watkins (Albany, Ga.) went 4-6 at bat with 4 runs scored. David Christy (Greenville, S.C.) was 3-3 with 2 RBIs and 1 run. Ron Torrance (Sarasota, Fla.) hit 2-2 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs. Josh Troutman (North Augusta, S.C.), Drew Lydon (White Plains, Md.) and Christy all hit doubles for the Saints. Watkins recorded two doubles. Tusculum’s Maikol Gonzalez (Maracaibo, Venezuela) hit 4-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Payden Houser (Lincolnton, N.C.) was 3-6 at bat with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Limestone plays Lenoir-Rhyne on April 1 at 6 p.m. in Hickory, N.C. The Pioneers host North Greenville University on April 1 at 4 p.m. |
