SAINTS BASEBALL GETS 8-2 VICTORY OVER ST. ANDREWS |
Dylan Anthony (Lincolnton, N.C.) and Drew Lydon (White Plains, Md.) both hit home runs for Limestone. Anthony was 3-4 at bat with 3 RBIs. Adam McSwain (Fallston, N.C.) hit 2-4 with an RBI, and Josh Izokovic (Shelby, N.C.) was 2-5 with 1 RBI. Phillip Soden (Inman, S.C.) and Matt Still (Moncks Corner, S.C.) also batted in runs. The Saints’ Chris Zimmerman (Hendersonville, N.C.) picked up his fifth win of the season as he pitched a complete game, allowed only 11 hits, and recorded three strikeouts. The score was tied 1-1 after the first inning. The Saints started a scoring run in the third. Still reached first on a fielder’s choice, as Watkins scored from third. Izokovic singled to bring McSwain home, and then Anthony hit the first home run of the day to make the score 5-1. Next, Lydon homered. Soden hit a sacrifice fly later in the same inning as Kyle Brewer (Gruetli-Laager, Tenn.) came home for the seventh and final run of the inning. St. Andrews scored the final run of the game in fourth. Limestone hosts Francis Marion on March 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Saints Field. GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The Saints baseball team defeated St. Andrews 8-2 on Sunday afternoon at Bob Prevatte Field. Limestone improves to 13-11 overall and 6-6 in Conference Carolinas play. The Knights stand at 9-13 (3-9 league).
