LIMESTONE SPLITS WITH ST. ANDREWS |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—The Limestone College baseball team split its doubleheader against St. Andrews on Saturday afternoon at Bob Prevatte Field. The Saints (12-11 overall/5-6 Conference Carolinas) took game one 9-8, but the Knights (9-13 overall/3-8) won the second contest 11-4. Brock White (Gaffney, S.C.) picked up the win for the Saints in game one. He closed in the final 2 1/3 innings, recorded two strikeouts, and allowed no hits. Clayton Knight (Moncks Corner, S.C.) pitched the first 6 2/3 innings. He struck out six of St. Andrews’ batters. The Saints’ Zach Watkins (Albany, Ga.), Phillip Soden (Lyman, S.C.), and Adam McSwain (Fallston, N.C.) were all 3-5 at bat. McSwain had 3 RBIs. Dylan Anthony (Lincolnton, N.C.) hit 2-3 and posted 2 RBIs. Watkins, Soden, and Josh Izokovic (Shelby, N.C.) each hit a double. Kyle Matheney (Spindale, N.C.) took the loss for Limestone in game two. He pitched the first 2 1/3 innings and gave up three earned runs and posted two strikeouts. Michael McAbee (Boiling Springs, N.C.) had two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of work, and Kyle Elliott (Shelby, N.C.) pitched the final two innings. McSwain was 3-4 at bat and had one RBI for Limestone in the day’s second contest. Matt Still (Moncks Corner, S.C.) had two RBIs, Anthony batted in one run. Watkins hit a double and had a stolen base. Soden had two stolen bases during the contest, and Izokovic also stole a base.
