NO. 19 LIMESTONE GETS 23-15 WIN OVER BELMONT ABBEY |
GAFFNEY, S.C.— The No.-19 ranked Saints wrestling team picked up a 23-15 win over Belmont Abbey on Thursday night at the Timken Center. Limestone improves to 11-1 on the season with the victory. The Abbey took the first three bouts of the night. No. 8-ranked Christopher Neidermeier (Waynesburg, Pa.) started the Crusaders off with a win at 125-pounds, and Reimark Neidermeier (Waynesburg, Pa.) got a decision at 133. Kevin James (Coral Springs, Fla.) put Belmont Abbey up 12-0 with a win in the 141-pound weight class. Dustin Baynes (New Liberty Twp., Ohio) got a win at 149-pounds to put Limestone on the board. The Saints’ Mikel Bush (Lakewood, N.Y./157 pounds) followed up with a victory to cut Belmont Abbey’s lead to 6 (12-6). The Crusaders’ Isaac Banks (Sequoyah, N.C.) got a decision in the 165-pound bank to give the Abbey a 15-6 lead. However, the Saints fought back and won the four remaining contests as Limestone’s Joby Schreckhise (Grottoes, Va./174 lbs.), Dan Scanlan (Leesburg, Va./184 lbs.), David Bush (Lakewood, N.Y./197 lbs.), and Trey Moss (Red Bank, S.C./285 lbs.) defeated their opponents to give Limestone the 23-15 victory. Limestone will compete at the East Coast Dual in Pembroke, N.C., on January 25-26.
