NO. 2 LADY SAINTS LACROSSE DEFEATS BELMONT ABBEY 16-10

BELMONT, N.C.-- The No. 2-ranked Lady Saints lacrosse team increased its win streak to nine with a 16-10 win over Conference Carolinas-foe Belmont Abbey on Wednesday. The Lady Saints improve to 6-0 in the conference (9-1 overall), as Belmont Abbey falls to 4-3 in league play (7-6 overall).

Four different Saints led the way with three goals apiece, as Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.), Summer Ferraro (East Setauket, N.Y.), Terri George (Jordan, N.Y.), and Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) each found the back of the net three times, while four others scored once. Wise also tallied an assist.

Limestone goalkeeper Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott, City, Md.) posted 10 saves, five ground balls, and one caused turnover. George led the team with four draw controls. Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.) had two caused turnovers.

Limestone won 18 of the game’s 28 draw controls and outshot the Abbey 35-23. The Lady Saints had the 21-19 edge on ground balls.

The Crusaders were led by Shannon Farden's four goals, while Meghan Darley added three and Tara Chmil had two. Laurie Jordan had the other. Brianna Diganan had two assists.

The Lady Saints hosts Queens on Saturday, April 5 at 12 p.m. in Gaffney, S.C.
