The Lady Saints outscored Belmont Abbey 14-1 in the first half. The Crusader’s only goal came from a free-position attempt by Laurie Jordan (Davidsonville, Md.) with 18:16 left in the period. Limestone had a 5-2 scoring advantage in the second half for the win. The Lady Saints out-shot the Crusaders 28-22, and had 15 ground balls to the visitors’ 9. The Crusaders were 14-of-18 on clears as Limestone was 17-for-19. The Lady Saints dominated draw controls, winning 18 of the game’s 24. Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.) led Limestone with three goals and three assists. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.), Terri George (Jordan, N.Y.), Katie Ilott (Whitbey, Ontario, Canada), Summer Ferraro (East Setauket, N.Y.), and Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) each scored twice. Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.), Shea Farrell (Blue Point, N.Y.), Renee Albro (Purcellville, Va.), and Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) also tallied goals in the victory. Howard dished out two assists. George, Grogg, Tosky, and Wise also assisted on goals. Ilott had five draw controls while George had three. Limestone goalkeeper Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) recorded nine saves and four ground balls in the first 46 minutes. Michaela Reynolds (Columbia, Md.) finished out the game, allowing no goals and posting five saves. Belmont Abbey had a goal and an assist from Tara Chmil (Lake Mary, Fla.), and Kristyn Kinsey (Severna Park, Md.) also contributed a goal. Kerri Gut (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) had two caused turnovers for the Crusaders. Meghan Darley (Oviedo, Fla.) and Chmil both had two draw controls. Starting goalkeeper Kate Gavin (Pasadena, Md.) had 5 saves in the first half as Sara Popovich (Granger, Ind.) had one in the second half. Limestone travels to Charlotte, N.C., on March 1 to face Queens University at 12 p.m. Belmont Abbey hosts Gannon on March 4 at 3 p.m. in Belmont, N.C. |
