LIMESTONE WOMEN SUFFER 80-66 LOSS TO QUEENS AT HOME |
GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Limestone women’s basketball team suffered an 80-66 loss to Queens Monday night. Markeisha Hicks (Rock Hill, S.C.) of Queens led all scorers with 27 points shooting 9-15 from the field and 9-12 from the free-throw line. For Limestone, Monica Adams (Kings Mountain, N.C.) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds shooting 6-6 from the field and 5-7 from the free-throw line. The Saints drop to 11-10 overall, 6-5 in league play, while the Royals advance to 5-13, 5-6. Two other Royals scored in double digits, Marissa Hudley (Charlotte, N.C.) with 21 and Cecilia Tchangoue (St. Jean Le Blanc, France) contributing 11. Hudley, Hicks, and Allison Williams (Rougemont, N.C.) all grabbed 8 boards a piece for the Royals. Limestone pulled ahead of Queens in the opening minutes of the second half, gaining a seven point lead three minutes into the half. From this point on, Queens chopped away at the Saints lead to go up by one with 9:27 to go in the ball game. Queens would go up by 14 points to take the game at 80-66. Limestone returns to action on Thursday, traveling to Misenheimer, N.C. for a 5:30 tip off against Pfeiffer University. Queens will host Pfeiffer on Saturday at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, N.C. at 5:30 pm. |
