LIMESTONE MEN’S SWIMMING IN 3RD AFER EVENT 28 OF BLUEGRASS MOUNTAIN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS; LADY SAINTS IN 4TH AFTER EVENT 27

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- The Limestone swim teams continued competition at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship on Friday night. Several Saints did well in the day’s final events. The Lady Saints are in fourth place following event 27 as the Saints are third after event 28.

Limestone’s 200 medley relay team of Donna Wickham (Tacarigua, Trinidad & Tobago), Carmen Adams (Conway, S.C.), Jessi Sullivan (Lancaster, S.C.), and Jenna Arington (Pittsford, N.Y.) finished fourth with a time of 1:52.21.The 800 free relay team of Ines Speranda (Split, Croatia), Arington, Marija Grubic (Split, Croatia), and Molly Reichwald (Atlanta, Ga.) set a new school record in the 800 free relay with a time of 8:00.02.

Molly Reichwald (Atlanta, Ga.) was fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:43.96) to set a new school record and finished 10th in the 200 free (1:58.68). Sullivan swam the 100 butterfly in 59.71 for fifth place. Adams was sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.54). Wickham won the 100 back (57.74) and got a "B" cut time and Marija Grubic (Split, Croatia) was second (59.08) and also qualified for a "B" cut.

Ines Speranda (Split, Croatia), Reichwald, Grubic, and Arington swam the 800 free relay in 8:00.02 for third place.

The Saints’ 200 medley relay team of Linvern Lim (Port Dixon, Malaysia), Chad McKenzie (Durban, South Africa), Matt Parsonage (Durban, South Africa), and Goran Majlat (Split, Croatia) took first with a time of 1:31.85 to set a new meet and school record. Their time also was an NCAA "A" Cut time.Limestone claimed the top three slots in the 100 back as Majlat, Lim, and Melin finished first (50.71), second (50.98), and third (51.51), respectively. Lim and Majlat both got an "A" cut for the 100 back as Majlat's time set a new school record. Majlat picked up an "A" Cut in the 100 fly (49.88) with a new Limestone record time.

McKenzie finished second in the 400 IM (4:04.86) with a "B" cut time as Zeljko Karaman (Split, Croatia) was fourth (4:12.28). Parsonage took second in the 100 butterfly (49.88) and Lim finished fourth in the same event (51.19). Jordens finished second in the 200 free (1:41.31) and Anders Melin (Karlstad, Sweden) was seventh (1:43.62). Lim got an NCAA "B" cut in the 100 fly( 51.19).

Ryan Mead (Lexington, S.C.), Melin, McKenzie, and Jordens were third in the 800 free relay (7:03.00).

Saturday's session of the 2008 Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships will start at 5 p.m.

The Limestone swim teams wrapped up Friday’s preliminaries early this afternoon. Only the top 16 finishers in the preliminary events advance to the finals.

The Limestone women’s 200 team is in 4th place. Renee Pouchet, Carmen Adams, Ines Speranda, and Jenna Arrington finished with a time of 1:54.79.

Jessi Sullivan is 6th in the women's 100 fly going into tonight’s final with a time of 1:00.13 in the preliminaries. Ines Speranda is 17th in the 100 butterfly with her prelim time of 1:04.07. Jessica Young finished 22nd (1:05.38) in the 100 fly, and Brandy McCauley finished 23rd (1:05.39) in the 100 fly. Molly Reichwald is currently in the 11th place position for tonight’s 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:01.19 She is also in 5th position going into the 400 IM finals with a time of 4:48.02. Carmen Adams is 7th in the 100 breaststoke with a time of 1:10.96, Rachael Gulledge is 14th with a time of 1:15.97, Madalyn Bernard finished 22nd with the time of 1:21.86, and Kelly Davidson finished 25th with the time of 1:24.11. Donna Wickham has the number one position in the women’s 100 backstroke going into tonight with the time of 57.71, Marija Grubic is 2nd with the time of 59.53, and Renee Pouchet is 14th with the time of 1:03.37. Shelley Hutcheson finished 20th with the time of 1:04.60.

The Saint men's 200 medley relay team is seated 1st for the finals with a time of 1:33.26 Linvern Lim, Zeljko Karaman, Matt Parsonage, Craig Jordens also achieved an NCAA “A “ cut and set a new school record.

Chad McKenzie is currently 2nd in the men's 400 IM with a time of 4:08.82. Zeljko Karaman is 3rd in the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.39, just shy of an NCAA “B” cut time. Matt Parsonage is currently 2nd in the men’s 100 fly with a time of 50.44, and Linvern Lim is 4th with a time of 52.14. Drew Boyd finished 22nd in the same event with a time of 56.84. In the men's 200 free, Craig Jordens got an NCAA “B” cut, set a new school record and is seated 3rd for tonight with a time of 1:42.20. Anders Melin is 7th in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.34 while Adam Caldwell finished 17th with a time of 1:51.21 In the men's 100 breaststroke, Ben Williams is seated 10th 1:01.10, Chris Harrigan is 16th with the time of 1:02.10, and Drew Boyd finished 23rd with the time of 1:07.81. Anders Melin is 1st in the men’s 100 backstroke with the time of 51.77, Linvern Lim is 2nd (52.12), and Goran Majlat is 4th with the time of 53.05. Brandon Liberator finished 25th with the time of 1:10.54.
