SAINTS SWIM TEAMS EARN ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN HONORS |
The 16 Saint men posted a combined 3.25 GPA for the fall and currently have a combined 3.21 GPA. The squad’s fall 3.25 GPA is considered “above superior” by the CSCAA. The 14 Lady Saints posted a combined 3.01 GPA of 3.01 in the fall and currently have a combined 3.23 team GPA. The women’s fall GPA is ranked as “excellent by the CSCAA. “We are very proud of our student-athletes,” commented Limestone Head Coach Allen Gilchrest. “They worked hard throughout the fall 2007 semester in and out of the water. This has been a real team effort. I have watched my student-athletes work hard through adversity, personal and team struggles throughout the first semester, and they came out earning very high individual and team GPAs.” The men’s team saw four athletes earn 4.0 GPA this semester: senior Adam Caldwell (Marietta, Ga.), junior Chris Harrigan (Greenville, S.C.), freshman Anders Melin (Karlstad, Sweden), and sophomore Ben Williams (Simpsonville, S.C.) Junior Kelly Davidson (Kingston, Tenn.) and student-assistant coach Julie French (Portland, Maine) also earned 4.0 GPA. The Limestone swimmers also did well in the pool this fall, as the team had 20 NCAA national cuts. These NCAA cuts will give the student-athletes a chance to become individual Academic All-Americans. This award is given to athletes who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher during the academic school year and have achieved an NCAA national cut.
