SWIMMERS REPORT ON DAY 1 OF FLORIDA TRIP |
This is our first full day of being in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It is all fairly new to everyone, however we, as a team, have adjusted to the changes. Everyone slept well in our hotel until we woke up at 7:30 a.m. to travel to the pool for our first practice of the day, which was from 8 till 10. It was cold, but the coaches and the team encouraged each other and got through the obstacle. The pool at the International Hall of Fame is a very nice facility with two 10 lane 50 meters pool and a extra diving well. Because of the amount of pool space we are given there is an opportunity to meet other teams from around the USA. Practice began with a warm-up and continued into a 30-minute kick set for the first hour. For the second hour we spilt into three different disciplines, which include distance, sprint, and stroke. Afterwards, we were given $70 a piece for 9 meals. We were given the option of buying groceries to save money or go to local restaurants. We all, of course, went grocery shopping. We had the afternoon to ourselves until our next practice at 4 p.m. The second practice is also a two hour practice, but instead of the first hour spent kicking it involved spending time working on the techniques of our strokes. The second hour was spent training, again in our three groups. After practice, for team bonding, we all participated in a fun relay. This trip, we feel, will help us grow closer as a team as well as prepare us for our second part of our season. Limestone Saints Swim Teams |
