NO. 5 LIMESTONE EDGES CATAWBA 10-9 |
SALISBURY, N.C.—The Limestone College men’s lacrosse team edged Catawba College 10-9 in its final regular season game of the season to improve to 12-1 on the year. The Indians fall to 7-8. Justin Haworth (Deer Park, N.Y.), Brendan Storrier (LaFayette, N.Y.), A.J. Vaughn (Skaneateles, N.Y.), and Mike Poerstel (Annapolis, Md.) scored two goals apiece, while Haworth led the Saints with two assists. Teddy Prager (Seaford, N.Y.) led his team with eight ground balls. Porter Johnson (Arnold, Md.) and Spencer Wims (Waltham, Mass.) each had three caused turnovers. Limestone outshot Catawba 42-35, and scooped up 36 ground balls to the hosts’ 27. Catawba won 13 of the game’s 23 faceoffs. The Indians were 3-5 in extra-man opportunities as LC was 0-3. Limestone and Catawba each scored five goals in the third period and both squads tallied one goal in the fourth quarter. The Saints had the 4-3 advantage in the second period to get the win. The NCAA Division II tournament selection show will be broadcast on CSTV on Sunday, May 4 at 9 p.m. |
