LIMESTONE DEFEATS NEWBERRY, 77-64

GAFFNEY, S.C.— Andre Coleman (Clermont, Fla.) had a 24-point performance to lead Limestone College to a 77-64 win against Newberry College on Saturday night at the Timken Center in men’s basketball action. The Saints improve to 2-3 overall as the Indians fall to 4-5.

Two more Saints scored in double figures. Kenny White (Columbia, S.C.) scored 13 and Tyron Evans (Leesburg, Fla.) had 10. Andrae Franklin (Fort Pierce, Fla.) posted 11 boards, as Bobby Grier (Powder Springs, Ga.) had a game-high 6 assists.

Clemente Martin (Freeport, Bahamas) scored 22 points for the Indians, as Vytautas Valiulis (Vilnius, Lithuania) chipped in 17. Grant Domsic (Winter Garden, Fla.) scored 11. Terrance Spillers (Charleston, S.C.) had a team-high eight rebounds and Kendrick Johnson (Orangeburg, S.C.) recorded three blocks.

There were only two lead changes during the contest. Limestone had a 38-30 advantage at halftime, and outscored the visitors’ 77-64 in the second for the win.

The Saints held the edge on field goals percentage, going 25-of-55 (45.5%) compared the Newberry’s 38.9% (21-54). Limestone was also 12-of-31 from long range (38.7%) compared to the Indians, who were 4-of-14 behind the arc (28.6%). The Saints nailed 15 of their 20 free-throws (75%) as Newberry was 18-of-31 at the line (58.1%).

The Saints out-rebounded Newberry 40-32, and converted 15 points from 12 Indian turnovers. The Indians converted 16 points from 17 Saints turnovers.

Limestone travels to Aiken, S.C., on Wednesday to face USC-Aiken in a non-conference contest at 7:30 p.m. Newberry hosts Coker on December 17 at 7 p.m. in Newberry, S.C.
