LIMESTONE LOSES TO NEWBERRY, 85-77

NEWBERRY, S.C.— The Limestone College men’s basketball team lost a non-conference contest to Newberry on Wednesday night at the Eleazer Arena, 85-77. The Saints drop to 1-2 overall as Newberry improves to 3-2.

Four Saints scored in double figures in the loss. Marques Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) had a game-high 18 points, as Andre Coleman (Clermont, Fla.) had 15. Kenny White (Columbia, S.C.) scored 13 points as he was 4-for-4 in free throws. Shawn Creal (Spartanburg, S.C.) went 3-for-3 from behind the arc and 2-for-2 in free throws to score 11 points. Bobby Grier (Powder Springs, Ga.) led the team with four assists, while John Prioleau (Charleston, S.C.) grabbed seven rebounds.

Newberry led 41-33 at the half, but both teams scored 44 points in the second.

Limestone shot 30.1% (25-64) in field goals for the contest while Newberry shot 48.2% (27-56). Limestone had 41 rebounds to the Indians’ 42. Each team had 20 turnovers. Limestone had 30 points from turnovers as the hosts’ only scored 14.

Limestone returns to the Timken Center in Gaffney on Saturday as the Saints host Conference-Carolinas rival Belmont Abbey at 7:30 p.m.
