LIMESTONE MEN’S BASKETBALL BEATS ST. ANDREWS 72-61 |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—The Limestone College men’s basketball team defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian College 72-61 on Saturday night at the Timken Center. The Saints improve to 7-15 overall (4-12 Conference Carolinas) as the Knights fall to 5-19 (4-13 league). Limestone’s Andrae Franklin (Fort Pierce, Fla.) had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Marques Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) had a game-high 21 points and grabbed 5 boards. Kenny White (Columbia, S.C.) scored 14 points. St. Andrews’ Colby Poe (Bennettsville, S.C.) led his team with 20 points, and Bradley Hippolyte (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 10. Zack Garst (Huntersville, N.C.) had a team-high 7 rebounds and Joseph Gripper (Charlotte, N.C.) had six boards. Both teams scored 41 points in the second half, but Limestone’s 31-20 lead in the first period gave the Saints the victory. The hosts held their lead for the entire contest. Limestone out-rebounded SAPC 37-33. The Saints shot 51.1% (24-47) from the field as the Knights shot 41.3% (26-63). St. Andrews made 3 of its 9 free-throw attempts (33.3%) as Limestone was 15-of-26 from the line (57.7%). Limestone was 9-for-18 in 3-pointers. Limestone travels to Banner Elk, N.C., to face Lees-McRae on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m. The Knights head to Hartsville, S.C., to play Coker College on Thursday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. |
