LIMESTONE MEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES TO ERSKINE |
DUE WEST, S.C.-- The Limestone College Saints lost in overtime to Conference Carolinas-rival Erskine College on Tuesday night, 81-80. The Saints fall to 0-6 in league play (2-9 overall) as the Fleet picks up its first conference win over the season (1-5 league/4-7). The Saints trailed by 13 at the half (43-30), and were losing by as much as 17 points in the second period. Limestone fought back to tie the game 73-73 at the end of regulation to send the contest into overtime. The Saints had an 80-78 lead with 30 seconds left in overtime, but Erskine's Nathan Jones hit a three-pointer with 9 seconds left to put the Fleet up 81-80. Five Limestone players scored in double figures. Andrae Franklin (Fort Pierce, Fla.) and Andre Coleman (Clermont, Fla.) each had 16 points, as Shawn Creal (Spartanburg, S.C.) scored 12. Kenny White (Columbia, S.C.) and Marques Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) both chipped in 10 points. Williams led the team with 7 assists as Franklin paced the team with 7 boards. Erskine’s Brandon Wright scored a game-high 25 points. T.J. Taylor scored 13 and Jay Boulware had 10. Limestone hosts Mount Olive on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Timken Center in Gaffney, S.C. |
