LIMESTONE MEN’S & WOMEN’S GOLF TAKES 4TH AT CHICK-FIL-A INTERCOLLEGIATE; WILLIAMS FINISHES SECOND |
SALISBURY, N.C.—The Limestone College men’s and women’s golf teams each finished fourth at the Chick-Fil-A Intercollegiate hosted by Catawba College on March 17-18. The Lady Saints had a two-round score of 711 (361-350) while the Saints posted a score of 601 (302-299). The tournament, hosted by Catawba College, was played at the par-72 Crescent Golf Club. Katie Clayton was the top finisher for the Lady Saints with a final score of 172 (87-85) to tie for 11th place. Miranda Van Arsdale tied for 14th place (88-86 174), and Ansley Smith was 23rd (90-89 179). Samantha Allison was 28th (96-90 186). Wingate cruised to the women’s title, building on its 17-shot first round lead to win by 31 strokes over Mars Hill. The Bulldogs had a two-round total of 673, while Mars Hill came in at 704 and Catawba at 707. On the men’s side, Limestone’s Brad Williams finished second with 142 (69-73), just one stroke behind tournament winner Elliott Blake (71-70 141) of Catawba. The Saints’ Kyle Parker tied for 10th (72-79 151), Kyle Scruggs tied for 21st (80-74 154), and Craig Parris tied for 25th (82-73 155). Ben Ross took 36th (81-80 161). Tournament-host Catawba shot a 298 to hold on to its first round lead and with a score of 593 won by five shots over North Greenville, who had a second day best total of 294 to shoot a combined 598. |
