LIMESTONE STUDENT-ATHLETES ILLUMINATE GAFFNEY |
The Saints began working on the luminaries early Saturday morning as the candles were set out on the streets, ready to light. The men's lacrosse team set to work in the early evening, lighting 10,000 candles that line the streets of Gaffney for over a mile. The late Les Gregory, a former employee and graduate of Limestone College, began the tradition of greeting Christmas on Campus guests with luminaries in 1985, when he lit the first candles to honor retired Limestone College professor Lucy G. Wheeler upon her passing. Since inception, the luminaries have grown from 200 to 10,000 candles. The Limestone athletics department wishes a happy holiday season for all of Gaffney and the College community. |
