LIMESTONE BASEBALL GETS 10 COMMITTMENTS

Limestone College Head Baseball Coach Chico Lombardo has announced his early commitments for the Class of 2008.  The Saints received commitments from 10 athletes: Britt Alexander, Dwayne Addy, Michael DeMarzi, Aaron Johnson, Connor Kicheloe, Mitch Lehman, Dean McCombs, Evan Schafer, Will Taylor, and T.J. Waldrop.

“We have gotten a good start for 2008 in adding these young men,” said Lombardo. “Each exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete.  Our staff is excited to have each of the young men join our family and look forward to having them competing for us next fall.”

Britt Alexander, INF, Daniel High School
Alexander, from Clemson, S.C., joins the Saints as a three-year letter winner for Daniel High.

“Britt has the ability to play multiple positions in the infield and runs well,” pointed out Lombardo. “He has the ability to become a standout player for us.”

Dwayne Addy, OF,  Blythewood High School
Addy, who is from Blythewood, S.C., is a three-year letterwinner for Blyethwood High School.  He will provide a solid offensive addition to the Saints lineup.

“Dwayne has the ability to hit the baseball to all fields and will develop into a quality player in our outfield,” Lombardo said. “We look forward to working with him over the next four years.”

Michael DeMarzi, OF, Huntington High School
DeMarzi will join the Saints from New York State, where he earned a letter for Huntington High School and will provide depth in Limestone’s outfield.

Aaron Johnson, LHP, North Iredell High School
Johnson is a three-year letterwinner for North Iredell High School in Statesville, N.C.

“Aaron has a live arm, and good command of 3 pitches from the left side,” commented Lombardo. “We are excited to see him develop and have a solid career over the next four years here at Limestone.”

Connor Kicheloe, LHP, Flint High School
Kicheloe is a two-year letter winner for Flint High School and hails from McClean, Va.

“Connor is another quality arm, and we welcome his ability to command the strike zone.  He will be a tough match up with his ability to change speeds and pound the zone,” Lombardo said.

Mitch Lehman, C,  Riverside High School
Lehman comes to Limestone from powerhouse Riverside High School in Greenville, S.C., where he earned a letter for the Warriors.

“Mitchell will add depth behind the plate for us.  He has a strong arm behind the plate and will only get better,” stated Lombardo.

Dean McCombs, OF,  Wren High School
McCombs earned three letters for Wren patrolling their outfield.

“Dean has the tools to be successful,” Lombardo pointed out. “He possesses a strong throwing arm, runs well, and has a solid approach at the plate.  I look forward to seeing him over the next few years.”

Evan Schafer, RHP, Pickerington High School
Schafer comes to Limestone as a polished right-handed pitcher out of Pickerington, Ohio, where he attended Pickerinton High School.

“Evan has command of three pitches, and with time will only improve.  He’s a welcome addition to our pitching staff,” Lombardo said.

Will Taylor, RHP,  Ridge View High School
Taylor comes to Limestone having earned two letters from Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C.

“Will has tremendous upside,” Lombardo stated.  “He has a strong arm, and will only get better for us on the mound.  He will see mound time, and I am excited to have Will join our program.”

T.J. Waldrop, LHP, Chapman High School
Waldrop joins the Saints from Chapman High School in Chapman, S.C.  He earned three letters for Chapman.

“T.J. brings a tough mental approach to the mound, along with a plus curveball and change up.  He is a solid addition to our staff and will see some innings,” said Lombardo.
