LIMESTONE RALLY FALLS SHORT AGAINST LENOIR-RHYNE |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—Trailing 15-5 entering the bottom of the ninth, the Limestone College baseball team rallied for nine runs but couldn’t come up with a win as the Saints lost to Lenoir-Rhyne College, 14-15. Limestone falls to 10-7 overall as Lenoir-Rhyne climbs to 8-9 after today’s non-conference contest at Bob Prevatte Field. Lenoir-Rhyne pitcher Sean Madden (Durham, N.C.) improved his record to 1-1 as he got the victory. He only gave up four hits and one earned run in the first four innings. Michael McAbee (Boiling Springs, N.C.) got the loss after pitching the opening four innings. Marques Kyles (Spartanburg, S.C.), Jordan Liette (Versailles, Ohio), Kyle Elliott (Shelby, N.C.), Evan Denton (Gastonia, N.C.), Michael Hardin (Forest City, N.C.), Josh Joseph (Axton, Va.), and Brian Baugher (Frederick, Md.) also pitched. The Saints’ Adam McSwain (Fallston, N.C.) hit 4-for-7 and had three RBIs. Josh Troutman (North Augusta, S.C.), Josh Izokovic (Shelby, N.C.), Greg Dailey (Baltimore, Md.), and David Christy (Greenville, S.C.) all were 2-for-2 at bat. Phillip Soden (Inman, S.C.), Troutman, and Daily each had two RBIs. Soden hit a double and Daily homered. The Bears’ Daniel Ford (Youngstown, Ohio) and Hunter Glass (Matthews, N.C.) were both 3-for-6 at bat and each player had three RBIs. ) Zachary Glass (Salisbury, N.C.) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Jake Hartley (Bluffton, S.C) hit 2-for-6 with two RBIs. T. J. Worrell (Charlotte, N.C.), Daniel Ford (Youngstown, Ohio), Hunter Glass, and Hartley all hit doubles. Worrell, Ford, and Hunter Glass also hit home runs. Limestone travels to Erskine for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday. Friday's contest will begin at 2 p.m., and Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 12 p.m. The Bears host Wingate in a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.
