LIMESTONE LOSES TO ANDERSON 17-4 |
GAFFNEY, S.C. -- The Limestone College baseball team suffered a 17-4 loss to Anderson on Tuesday afternoon at Bob Prevatte Field. Anderson improves to 2-7 overall as the Saints slip to 4-3. Today's contest was a non-conference game. Anderson started the game with a run in the first, and then had six in the third. The Trojans scored twice in the top of the fifth, and Limestone answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The visitors went on to score three more runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh. Limestone scored twice in the bottom of the ninth. The Trojan’s David Richardson (Hanahan,, S.C.) got the win as he pitched the first five innings and gave up four hits, two runs, and struck out five batters. Brady Peele (St. George, S.C.) finished out the contest for Anderson. Limestone’s Chris Zimmerman (Hendersonville, N.C.) took the loss after giving up eight hits and five earned runs in the first 2 1/3 innings. Five other pitchers saw action for the Saints: Ryan Resendez (Gastonia, N.C.), Brian Baugher (Frederick, Md.), Thomas Fekete (Aiken, S.C.), Kyle Matheney (Spindale, N.C.), and Brock White (Gaffney, S.C.). Greg Dailey (Baltimore, Md.), Drew Lydon (White Plains, Md.), and Ty Pulsifer (Sarasota, Fla.) all batted in runs for the Saints. Andrew Davis (Asheboro, N.C.) was 5-for-5 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Derek Hipp (Saluda, S.C.) and Blair Carson (Anderson, S.C.) both hit 3-for-6 and recorded an RBI. Clint Neville (McDonagh, Ga.) was 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs, Andrew Johnson (Inman, S.C.) also had three RBIs, and Walt Quattlebaum (Harleyville, S.C.) batted in a game-high four runs. Matt Hill (Moncks Corner, S.C.) was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Neville, Davis, and Quattlebaum each hit a home run. Anderson hit 19-for-47 while the Saints were 10-of-36 at bat. Limestone hosts Lander University on Thursday, February 14 at 2 p.m. at Bob Prevatte Field. The Trojans host Carson-Newman in Anderson, S.C., on February 13 at 3 p.m. |
