LIMESTONE RECOGNIZES HUGH CLAYTON

GAFFNEY, S.C.— Limestone College recognized alumnus Hugh Clayton at Saturday night’s basketball contest between the Saints and Belmont Abbey. Clayton donated money towards the purchase of the new Saint Bernard mascot costume and was present for the unveiling of the new costume.

"CHEER" FOR A CURE
October 26, 2007

Gaffney- Limestone College Cheerleaders will be cheering to raise funds to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. They will be out at the Gaffney City Fire Department, Saturday, October 27 preparing for the Alzheimer’s Association signature event, the Memory Walk. Registration starts at 10am with the walk beginning at 11am. The cheerleaders will warm up the walkers with a few exercises. In addition, they will get walkers pumped up with cheers.

HUGH CLAYTON DONATES MONEY TOWARDS PURCHASE OF NEW MASCOT UNIFORM

Limestone College alumnus Hugh Clayton recently donated money towards the purchase of a new mascot uniform. Clayton was the first person to serve as the College's mascot. His continued support to Limestone College and his contribution has been an enormous asset to the team. Limestone College would like to thank Mr. Clayton for his generous donation, and truly appreciates his help and support to the cheerleading program. The new mascot uniform will be unveiled at the first home basketball games against Belmont Abbey on December 1. Lauren Barker will be donning the new costume as she performs as the Saints' mascot, “Berni.”

 

CHEERLEADING CAPTAINS NAMED

Hailey Peay, Staci Glymph and Heather Armstrong were named team captains for the 2007-2008 season. Hailey is completing her senior year at Limestone and has been a member of the team for four years. This is her third year serving as team captain. She has been participating in cheerleading for over 12 years and has received numerous awards for her involvement with cheerleading.

Staci has been a member of the cheerleading team for 3 years and she is a senior. She has been involved with cheerleading for 10 years and she also has had 18 years of extensive training in dance. Staci has been recognized for her accomplishments with cheerleading and dance.

Heather is a senior cheerleader and she has been a member of the team for three years. She enjoys participating in cheerleading and she has had 8 years of gymnastics training and received several awards for her participation in competitive gymnastics.
