| ANDERSON MEN AND WOMEN WIN LIMESTONE INVITATIONAL; LADY SAINTS FINISH 3RD AS SAINTS FINISH 5th |
GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The Anderson University men’s and women’s cross country teams finished first at the Limestone Invitational on Saturday morning. Meet-host Limestone College took third in the women’s event as the Saints finished fifth. Limestone junior Matt Conant took first in the men’s meet, as Anderson’s Jennifer Hitt won the women’s race. "I'd like to thank Gaffney High School, the Gaffney Police, and Jimmy Martin for their help with today's meets," said Head Coach Kevin Vees. Presbyterian College’s women’s team was second behind the Lady Trojans, as Limestone took third. Erskine College was fourth, Southern Wesleyan University was fifth, while UNC-Pembroke was sixth. Newberry College finished seventh, Belmont Abbey was eighth, and Spelman College was ninth. Anderson’s Jennifer Hitt (19:24) and Diana Willard (20:09) took first and second, respectively. Courtney Rankin finished third, running unattached. Molly Reichwald had a time of 20:17 to finish fourth for Limestone, and UNC-Pembroke’s Tierra McIntosh was fifth (20:20). Anderson won the men’s event, with Presbyterian College taking second. UNC-Pembroke was third, while Erskine College was fourth. Limestone took fifth, Newberry was sixth, Belmont Abbey was seventh, and Southern Wesleyan University was eighth. Limestone’s Matt Conant won the men’s event with a time of 26:48. Erskine’s Adam Growbewski was second (26:59), while UNC-Pembroke’s Bilotta Giovanni was third (27:09).Anderson’s Jason Bryan (27:01) and Nathan Parson (27:05) took fourth and fifth, respectively. Limestone travels to compete at the Warrior Invitational on Saturday, September 29 in Central, S.C. The women's race begins at 9 a.m. with the men's race to follow at 9:45 a.m. |
