Gaffney, S.C. – The Limestone women’s tennis team handily
defeated Conference Carolinas foe, Lees-McRae 8-1 at the Emmie Evans
Rector Tennis Center Monday. Limestone improved to 4-3 overall, 2-0
in the conference, while Lees-McRae dropped to 5-3, 2-1 in league play.
The Lady Saints jumped off to a 3-0 start taking all three of the doubles
matches. At No. 1 doubles, Jen Snaider (Asuncion, Paraguay) and Alexandria
Gade (Copenhagen, Denmark) picked up an 8-4 win, while Lee Cribb (Spartanburg,
S.C.) and Jessie Griffin (Alpharetta, Ga.) won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Eve Aubry (Boucherville, Quebec, Canada) and Josephine Gade (Copenhagen,
Denmark) took a close match at the No. 2 doubles, 8-8 and 7-5 for the
tie break.
In Singles action, Snaider won the first set 7-6 and dropped the next
6-4. Snaider lost the tie break 10-7. Alexandria Gade (No. 2) and Aubry
(No. 3) both won their flights 6-2 and 6-2. Josephine Gade picked up
the win at No. 4 singles, 6-3 and 6-0. Griffin won at the No. 5 flight,
6-3 and 7-5. At No. 6, Cribb took the win 6-3 and 6-1.
The Lady Saints will host Converse College tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
