WEAVER NAMED HEAD WOMEN’S SOCCER COACH AT LIMESTONE |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—Limestone College Athletics Director Larry Epperly has announced that Tina Weaver will take the helm of the Lady Saints soccer program. Weaver replaces Benji Walton, who recently accepted a position at Birmingham Southern College after four years of coaching at Limestone. “Coach Walton left a strong foundation of dedication to the improvement of the team and the squad’s chemistry,” commented Weaver. “My vision is to build on his philosophy and help the Lady Saints achieve their goal of a winning tradition. “I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to lead this team,” continued Weaver. “The girls truly pour their hearts and souls into this program and I am committed to its growing success.” Weaver came to Limestone in June from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisc., where she served as the women’s soccer assistant coach and as assistant strength and conditioning coach. Weaver assisted with practice plans and overall coaching duties on the soccer field. Last season, nine of the players were named All-Conference by the Lake Michigan Conference as the team clinched the conference championship. The squad also received a berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Muskies finished the season with an impressive 14-5-2 overall record and were 6-1-1 in conference play. She had an outstanding four-year playing career at Western Carolina from 2000-2003 as the Catamounts’ goalkeeper. She finished her senior season ranked 27th in the nation with 7.4 saves per game and is fourth all-time in the Southern Conference with a 1.11 career goals against average. She holds WCU records with her GAA and a career saves percentage of .821. Weaver also holds a Master's of Business Administration from Lakeland College. |
