LADY SAINTS SOCCER ADVANCES TO CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS WITH 2-0 WIN OVER MOUNT OLIVE

GAFFNEY, S.C.—The Lady Saints soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the 2007 Conference Carolinas women’s soccer tournament with a 2-0 win over Mount Olive on Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone improves to 7-8-4 overall as the Trojans stand at 7-9-4.

Lady Saint Madi Dulisse (Burlington, Wisc.) went one on one with the Trojan goalkeeper in the 40th minute to score for the 1-0 lead.

Lee Cribb (Spartanburg, S.C.) scored on a breakaway with 17 minutes left in regulation to give Limestone the 2-0 advantage.

Lady Saint defenders Ashley Vaughan (Pickering, Ontario, Canada), Brittany Owen (Pasadena, Md.), Amanda Lear (Charleston, S.C.), and Jenna Mellon (Maiden, N.C.) held Mount Olive to two shots on goal during the match. Goalkeeper Brittany Clark (York, S.C.) recorded both saves for the Saints.

Jenn Sastre (Fayetteville, N.C.) had six saves during the match, as Gina Dos Santos (Whitehall, Pa.) led the team with four shots.

Limestone dominated on offense as it out-shot Mount Olive 17-8. The Lady Saints also had eight corner kicks to the visitor’s four.

The Lady Saints will face Belmont Abbey in the tournament semifinals on Friday, November 2 at 5 p.m. in Mount Olive, N.C. The semifinals and finals of the tournament are hosted by Mount Olive College.
