LIMESTONE AND ANDERSON TIE 1-1 IN WOMEN'S SOCCER ACTION

GAFFNEY, S.C.-- Limestone College and Anderson University played to 1-1 tie in women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone stands at 4-6-3 overall (3-2-3 conference) after the result of today's Conference Carolinas contest. Anderson has an overall record of 6-4-1 (3-2-1 conference).

Jenna Mellon (Maiden, N.C.) got the Lady Saints on the board in the 11th minute with a long shot off a throw-in by Annie Polhamus (Fitzgerald, Ga.).

Anderson's Virginia Cates (Byron, Mich.) scored the equalizer with 20 minutes left to play in the second half.

The Lady Saints dominated the attack, recording 15 shots to the Trojans' 7. Limestone had a 6-1 advantage on corners.

Lady Saint Brittany Clark (York, S.C.) had three saves as Trojan Kelli Whitfield (Anderson, S.C.) recorded five.

Limestone travels to Greenwood, S.C., on Wednesday to face Lander University in a non-conference contest at 7:30 p.m.
