“This was a big conference win for us,” said Limestone head coach Benji Walton. “We set the tone early in the game and our defenders came up big to help Brittany seal the shutout.” Both of Limestone’s goals came early in the game. Erin Hoffman (Fort Collins, Colo.) scored the first goal off a pass from Kristina Silva (Pickering, Ontario, Canada) in the 2nd minute. Amanda Lear (North Charleston, S.C.) scored 12 minutes later, from a give and go from Bekki Hagarman (Tallahasse, Fla.) The Lady Saints outshot the visitors 7-3 in the first half to have the 2-0 advantage in the second period. “Erin finished a beautiful ball,” pointed out Walton. “She is one of the most underappreciated players in the CVAC. She’s a threat for us every game and deserves credit for an outstanding match today. “Amanda Lear also had an amazing game,” added Walton. “Her goal was great.” Erskine had four shots to the hosts’ two in the second period, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Limestone goalkeeper Brittany Clark had two saves in the shutout while Erskine keeper Katy Jackson had three. The Lady Saints look ahead to Saturday as the host conference-foe Belmont Abbey (4-3/1-1 CVAC) at 2 p.m. at Saints Field. |
