LIMESTONE WOMEN’S SOCCER GETS 1-0 WIN OVER QUEENS

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The Limestone College women’s soccer team recorded its second shutout of the season with a 1-0 conference win over Queens University on Tuesday night. The Lady Saints improve to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in Conference Carolinas play as the Royals fall to 1-5 (0-2 conference).

“The girls had an awesome game,” said Limestone Head Coach Tina Weaver. “Everyone stepped up from our offense to our defense. We showed how well we can play together as a team.”

The Lady Saints got the game’s only goal with 28 minutes left to play in the second half. Brittany Owen (Pasadena, Md.) crossed the ball from the right side. Kristina Silva (Pickering, Ontario, Canada) got the ball to Jill Pratt (Lee Center, N.Y.), who was credited with the goal.

Limestone stepped it up defensively for the win and saw a tremendous effort from goalkeeper Brittany Clark (York, S.C.) who recorded four saves during the contest.

“Brittany Clark had some big saves for us,” Weaver pointed out.

Queens outshot Limestone 9-6, and edged the Lady Saints 2-1 on corner kicks. Royals goalkeeper Kristen Kornacki had three assists.

Limestone travels to Wilson, N.C., to face Barton College on Saturday at 5 p.m.
