UNC-PEMBROKE DEFEATS LIMESTONE 4-0 IN WOMEN’S SOCCER ACTION

GAFFNEY, S.C.— UNC-Pembroke got its second straight win of the season as it defeated Limestone 4-0 in women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. The Braves climb to 2-0 as the Lady Saints fall to 0-4.

UNC-Pembroke got its first goal three minutes into play as Sara Day (New Bern, N.C.) scored shortly after a corner kick. Limestone had a chance to tie the game five minutes later with a shot from Kristina Silva (Pickering, Ontario, Canada), but Lady Brave goalkeeper Whitney Beverly (Richlands, N.C.) came through with the save.

Brittany Greaves (Wake Forest) gave UNCP the 2-0 lead with a long shot with 25 minutes left to play. Anna Wommack (Benson, N.C.) scored for the Braves again with 14 minutes remaining. Lefke Boysen (Bremen, Germany) scored UNCP's fourth goal on a penalty kick.

Lady Saint goalkeeper Brittany Clark (York, S.C.) recorded 11 saves during the contest.

Limestone hosts USC-Aiken on Wednesday, September 5 at 2 p.m. at Saints Field in Gaffney.
