SAINTS WRESTLING FINISHES 10TH AT NCAA EAST REGIONAL; LIMESTONE’S MOSS HEADED TO NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP |
PEMBROKE, N.C.- The Limestone wrestling team finished 10th of 13 at the 2007 NCAA Division II East Regional hosted by the University of North Carolina at Pembroke on Saturday. The University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown won the event, with Mercyhurst, Shippensburg, West Liberty State, and Newberry College rounding out the top five. Limestone’s Trey Moss (Red Bank, S.C.) took third in the heavyweight division and will be the third Limestone wrestler to advance to the NCAA National Championship. This year’s even is hosted by the University of Nebraska at Kearney on March 9-10 at Kearney’s Health and Sport Center. Ian Barker (Summerville, S.C./125 lbs.) and Mike Bush (Lakewood, N.Y./157 lbs.) lost in the true fourth bout and will not advance to nationals because they were defeated by #5 seed in their respective weight classes. The Saints’ Todd Neptune (New Concord, Ohio) took sixth in the 174-pound weight class. The Saints have had one representative at the national championship since the first year of the program during the 2004-05 season. John Richard took seventh at the 2005 championship to become Limestone’s first All-American, and Brent Clausing, who is redshirting this season, lost in the quarterfinals of the 2006 competition. |
