LIMESTONE DROPS ROAD MATCH TO BELMONT ABBEY, 31-16

BELMONT, N.C.—The Limestone wrestlers had a tough night at Belmont Abbey as the Saints lost to the Crusaders, 31-16. Limestone’s dual record falls to 5-11 with the loss. Dustin Baynes (149 lbs./Liberty Twp., Ohio) and Dan Scanlan (Leesburg, Va.) recorded wins for Limestone.

The Crusaders took seven of the night’s ten matches for the victory. Belmont Abbey won the first three matches in the 197, 285, and 125-pound weight classes. Limestone finally got some points on the board after a Crusader forfeit in the 133-pound class. Limestone lost in the 141-pound category before Dustin Baynes (Liberty Twp., Ohio) defeated David Sledz, 15-7, in the 149-pound weight class. The Saints lost the next three contests before Dan Scanlan (Leesburg, Va./184 lbs.) pinned Will Cruz at 4:37 in the last match of the night.

Limestone returns to the Timken Center on Thursday as the Saints host Spartanburg Methodist at 7 p.m.
