3 LADY SAINTS GARNER ALL-AMERICAN HONORS |
Three Limestone College women’s lacrosse players earned NCAA Division II All-American honors as released by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association. Limestone’s Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) was named First Team All-American, as Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) and Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) earned Second Team honors. Wise started at midfield for the Lady Saints this spring. She was named First Team All-Conference, CVAC Player of the Week, to the Women'sLacrosse.com Weekly Honor Roll, and was a Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week. She was ranked top three in the CVAC in goals per game. She led the Lady Saints with 71 points, 59 goals, and 19 caused turnovers. Wise set a new school record for goals in a season with 59. Cavanaugh also started in 19 games as the Lady Saints goalkeeper. She finished the season ranked sixth in NCAA Division II with an 8.11 GAA, was 10th with a 0.514 save percentage, and 15th with 54 ground balls. She was also named First Team All-Conference, to the CVAC All-Tournament Team, and to the Women'sLacrosse.com Honor Roll. Her 145 saves this season put her at fourth in the Limestone record books with 181 career saves. Pesce was a First Team All-CVAC honoree in 2007. She was second on Limestone's team with 42 goals and also had seven assists for 49 total points. As a junior, she ranks second in the Limestone record books in career goals (116) and is fifth in career points (145). This season, Pesce won 30 draw controls, caused 12 turnovers, and had 21 ground balls. The IWLCA was founded on the principle of developing among intercollegiate coaches a deep sense of responsibility in teaching, promotion, and maintaining the growth of women's lacrosse in accordance with the highest ideals of fair play. It is a body committed to being an integral part of the growth and direction of our collegiate sport.
