5 LADY SAINT LACROSSE PLAYERS NAMED ALL-REGION |
Five Limestone College women’s lacrosse players earned NCAA Division II All-South Region honors as released by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association. Limestone’s Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) and Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) were named First Team All-Region, as Kelly Lickert (Pen Yann, N.Y.), Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.), and Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) earned Second Team honors. Pesce was a First Team All-CVAC midfielder in 2007. She was second on Limestone's team with 42 goals and also had seven assists for 49 total points. As a junior, she ranks second in the Limestone record books in career goals (116) and is fifth in career points (145). This season, Pesce won 30 draw controls, caused 12 turnovers, and had 21 ground balls. Wise started at midfield for the Lady Saints this spring. She was named First Team All-Conference, CVAC Player of the Week, to the Women'sLacrosse.com Weekly Honor Roll, and was a Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week. She was ranked top three in the CVAC in goals per game. She led the Lady Saints with 71 points, 59 goals, and 19 caused turnovers. Wise set a new school record for goals in a season with 59. Lickert was named Honorable Mention All-Conference. She ranked 10th in NCAA Division II in assists per game and was second in the conference in the same category. She was also top 5 in the CVAC in points per game. As a sophomore, she’s already third in the Lady Saints career record books with 71 assists. Lickert scored 27 goals at attack in 2007 and recorded 34 assists. Cavanaugh also started in 19 games as the Lady Saints goalkeeper. She finished the season ranked sixth in NCAA Division II with a 8.11 GAA, was 10th with a 0.514 save percentage, and 15th with 54 ground balls. She was also named First Team All-Conference, to the CVAC All-Tournament Team, and to the Women'sLacrosse.com Honor Roll. Her 145 saves this season put her at fourth in the Limestone record books with 181 career saves. Grogg started in all 19 games for Limestone at defense and was named Honorable Mention All-Conference. She was second on the Lady Saints’ team with 18 caused turnovers and tallied two assists during the season. Grogg helped anchor the Lady Saints’ defense that posted an overall GAA of 8.06.
