5 LADY SAINTS NAMED ALL-CVAC |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—Five Limestone College women’s lacrosse players earned All-CVAC honors, as announced at the 2007 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference banquet on Friday evening. Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.), Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) and Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) earned First Team honors, as Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.) and Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.) were named Honorable Mention All-CVAC.
Pesce has scored 37 goals and tallied five assists for 42 points. She has caused 10 turnovers, scooped up 19 ground balls, and won 24 draw controls.
Wise leads the Lady Saints with 62 points this season from 52 goals and 10 assists. Ten of her goals have come from free-position shots. She also had 29 groundballs, 26 draw controls, and 16 caused turnovers this spring.
Cavanaugh has started in all of the Lady Saints games this season and has 110 saves. She posts a 7.34 GAA and a .519 save percentage while picking up 47 ground balls.
Lickert has 25 assists in 2007 and has scored 23 goals for 48 points. She has picked up 16 ground balls.
Grogg has helped anchor a Limestone defense that has a 7.36 GAA this spring. She leads the team with 17 caused turnovers and has scooped up 23 ground balls. She also chipped in on offense with two assists this season.
The Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference All-CVAC Teams were determined by vote from each Head Coach of participating institutions. Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, and All-CVAC First Team and All-CVAC Honorable Mention.
