LADY SAINTS LACROSSE CLINCHES 4TH CONSECUTIVE CVAC REGULAR SEASON TITLE WITH 12-9 WIN OVER PFEIFFER

MISENHEIMER, N.C.—The Limestone College women’s lacrosse team clinched its fourth straight regular season Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference title with a 12-9 victory against Pfeiffer University on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Saints post a 9-1 conference record (12-3 overall) as the Falcons stand at 8-2 in the CVAC (13-4 overall).

Pfeiffer had a 6-5 advantage in the second half, but Limestone’s 7-3 lead after the first period was enough to get the 12-9 victory.

Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) led the Lady Saints with four goals, while Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) had three goals. Katie Ilott (Whitbey, Ontario, Canada) scored twice, as Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.), Shea Farrell (Blue Point, N.Y.), and Summer Ferraro (East Setuaket, N.Y.) also scored. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.) dished out three assists, and Terri George (Jordan, N.Y.) also assisted on a goal.

Limestone defender Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.) had four ground balls, while goalkeeper Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) posted 10 saves.

The outcome of today’s game also determined the final seedings for this weekend’s conference tournament. The #1-seeded Lady Saints will play #4 Belmont Abbey at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 20. #2 Pfeiffer will play #3 Queens at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday. All matches will be played at Saints Field.
