NO. 7 LIMESTONE DEFEATS ST. ANDREWS 15-7

GAFFNEY, S.C.— The No. 7-ranked Limestone College women’s lacrosse team defeated conference-rival St. Andrews 15-7 on Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field. The Lady Saints climb to 7-1 in the CVAC (11-2 overall) as the Knights fall to 1-7 in conference play (4-10 overall).

Limestone had a 7-2 lead at halftime and held the 8-5 advantage in the second half for the victory. The Lady Saints out shot the visitors 41-16, and had a 14-7 edge on ground balls. Limestone also won 19 of the game’s 24 draw controls.

Lady Saints Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) each scored four goals for the Saints, as Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.) and Katie Ilott (Brooklin, Ontario, Canada) both scored twice. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.), Summer Ferraro (East Setauket, N.Y.), and Terri George (Jordan, N.Y.) also recorded goals in the win. Howard tallied a game-high five assists as Lickert had two.

Kelsey Binggeli had four goals for St. Andrews. Kerrie Brown recorded two as Corey Whitbeck scored once. Lady Knight goalkeeper Eryn McCaffrey had 20 saves for the contest.

Limestone hosts Queens on April 11 at 4 p.m. at Saints Field.
