No. 7 LIMESTONE WOMEN'S LACROSSE BEATS BELMONT ABBEY 13-8

BELMONT, N.C.- The No. 7 Lady Saints lacrosse team defeated Belmont Abbey 13-8 on Wednesday afternoon. Limestone improves to 5-1 in the CVAC and 9-2 overall as the Crusaders fall to 6-7 (4-4 CVAC).

Limestone had a 5-3 lead after the first half, and held an 8-5 advantage in the second for the 13-8 victory. The Lady Saints had 17 ground balls to the Abbey’s 11. Limestone also won 13-of-20 draw controls.

Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.), Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), and Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) each scored three goals for the Lady Saints. Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) scored twice as Terri George (Jordan, N.Y.) and Katie Ilott (Brooklin, Onatario, Canada) scored once. Albro, Oterson, Lickert, and Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.) dished out assists.

Limestone goalkeeper Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) had eight saves and five ground balls during the contest. Wise had two caused turnovers.

Limestone travels to play Lees-McRae on Saturday in Banner Elk, N.C., at 2 p.m.
