NO. 6 LADY SAINTS LACROSSE LOSES TO NO. 5 LOCK HAVEN

GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The No. 6 Lady Saints lacrosse team was tied with No. 5 Lock Haven with 15 minutes left to play, but the Bald Eagles went on a five-goal run for the 11-7 win. Limestone falls to 7-2 for the year as the Bald Eagles improve to 2-0.

Both teams entered halftime with three goals each, but Lock Haven held an 8-4 advantage in the second period. The Lady Saints had 11 draw controls to the visitors’ eight. Lock Haven had 25 groundballs to LC’s 18.

Lady Saints Katie Ilott (Brooklin, Ontario, Canada) and Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) both scored two goals. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.), Danielle Tosky (Bluffton, S.C.), and Terrie George (Jordan, N.Y.) chipped in one goal each.

Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.) and Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) each tallied one assist. Pesce also had four draw controls as George had three.

Limestone goalkeeper Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) posted 10 saves. Wise, Ilott, and Lickert each caused two turnovers.

Lock Haven was paced by Jessica Blickenstaff’s three goals. Lindsey Rentel and Amber Hoch scored twice. Caitlyn Watts had six draw controls and Mandy Alderfer had four ground balls.

Eagle goalkeeper Kira Nuttall had 12 saves.

Limestone travels to Charlotte, N.C., to take on CVAC-rival Queens on Friday, March 23 at 7 p.m.
