NO. 4 LIMESTONE GETS 23-1 WIN OVER LEES-MCRAE |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—The No. 4-ranked Limestone College women’s lacrosse team improved to 2-0 this season with a 23-1 win over Lees-McRae on Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field. The Lady Saints also improve to 2-0 in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference play as the Bobcats fall to 0-2 in the CVAC (0-3 overall). Limestone scored 13 goals in the first period and 10 in the second for the win. Lees-McRae’s only point came from an unassisted goal by Amelia Henson. Summer Ferraro (East Setauket, N.Y.) led the Lady Saints with five goals, while Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.) had a game-high five assists and scored four goals. Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) had four goals, while Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), Katie Ilott (Brooklin, Ontario, Canada), and Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) each scored two goals. Jessica Green (Roeboth Beach, Del.), Terri George (Jordan, N.Y.), Aricka Piersma (Columbia, S.C.) and Shea Farrell (Blue Point, N.Y.) also scored. Oterson and Wise each dished out three assists for Limestone, as Renee Albro (Purceville, Va.) and Ilott each had two. George, Green, Pesce, Piersma, and Danielle Tosky (Bluffton, S.C.) also recorded assists. Limestone had 21 goals to Lees-McRae’s 12 and out shot the visitors 37-9. The Lady Saints also won 16 of 25 draw controls. Limestone’s Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) had five saves in the first half, while Toni Santagelo (Holbrook, N.Y.) had three. Lady Bobcat goalkeeper Olivia Maurey had nine saves for the contest. The Lady Saints host Molloy on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Lady Saints Field.
